Accessibility statement.
How we approach accessibility on caelomere.com, what we have done, what we know is not perfect, and how to tell us if something does not work for you.
1. Our commitment
CAELOMERE is designed for organisations operating in regulated and high consequence environments. Accessibility is part of that responsibility. We want caelomere.com to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology, and we treat accessibility as a design and engineering requirement rather than an afterthought.
This statement describes how caelomere.com addresses accessibility, what we have tested, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us about a problem.
2. Standards we work towards
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. This is the standard widely accepted for public sector and enterprise websites.
Full conformance is a process, not a state. We review accessibility continuously, and we treat reported issues as defects to be resolved.
3. What we have done
The following practices are built into caelomere.com:
- Semantic HTML, headings, landmarks and lists are used for structure, not for styling
- Text alternatives, meaningful images and diagrams carry appropriate alternative text; decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology
- Keyboard accessibility, all interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard
- Focus visibility, visible focus indicators on interactive controls
- Colour contrast, text and interactive components are designed to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios
- Reduced motion, motion is disabled when the user has indicated a preference for reduced motion
- Responsive layout, content reflows to suit a wide range of screen sizes and zoom levels
- Consistent navigation, the masthead and footer are consistent across pages
- Language, the site is written in clear, plain English, and the page language is declared for assistive technology
4. Known limitations
We are aware of the following limitations and are working to address them:
- Some of the SVG diagrams carry descriptive aria label text rather than fully detailed accessible alternatives. Where a diagram conveys information not available in surrounding text, we aim to describe it in the adjacent copy.
- Certain decorative emblem graphics are marked aria hidden for screen readers, in line with best practice for purely decorative imagery.
- We have not yet completed an independent third party audit of accessibility. Our own testing is based on automated tooling, manual keyboard testing, and screen reader spot checks.
5. How we test
Our accessibility testing includes:
- Automated checks against WCAG 2.2 AA criteria using standard tooling
- Manual keyboard only navigation testing
- Spot check review with screen readers (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS and iOS)
- Zoom and reflow testing at 200% and above
- Testing at different viewport sizes, including small mobile
6. Reporting an accessibility problem
If you experience an accessibility barrier on caelomere.com, please tell us. Useful details to include:
- The page or URL where the problem occurs
- A short description of what you were trying to do
- The assistive technology or browser you were using, if relevant
- Any other context that might help us reproduce and fix the issue
Please email hello@caelomere.com with the subject "Accessibility". We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within two UK business days and to respond substantively as soon as we can.
7. Enforcement and further help
If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility issue, you may contact the UK Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), which provides advice on rights and obligations under the Equality Act 2010, including in relation to websites and digital services.
8. Changes to this statement
We review this statement periodically and update it when we make material changes to the site or to our accessibility practices. The "last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.
